Artist Spotlight : Samuel Canales

Recently on facebook, I was requested an add by Samuel Canales. I accepted and decided to check out his photos. I immediatly fell in love with his art especially his Michael Jackson shirt design. Samuel was the Art Director for Elite Model Management here in Chicago. While working there, he became inspired by the beauty that surrounded him and began to paint portraits. He has done wonderful portraits such as the one above for Janet Jackson, Cassie, America's Top Model winner Jaslene and many more! Other projects include illstrating art for the Walter & Connie Payton Foundation, Bad Boy Records, & Warner Brothers.

Sooo rumor has it that my beloved N.E.R.D is adding a female to the group. Fam-Lay, a star trek artist, wrote on twitter, "Her names Rhea... She's the new member of N.E.R.D.!! & she dope!!" The Toronto native auditioned for N.E.R.D over the internet. She says “It was just a really good time. When I came in there and I met them and they heard me sing, I think they decided it was the right fit.” I definitely have to listen to her music. Only female I accepted getting close to P was Va$htie! lol

I'm always down for supporting Chicago artists with REAL talent so I give you KM! He sent me three tracks the other day: Say What You Feel, Birthday Sex (KM Remix), & I Just Got My License. My favorite has to be "Say What You Feel" over Kanye's "Say You Will." His voice flowed over the beat as if it was made for him (watch out Kanye lol). I found myself vibing to it as soon as I turned it on which is a VERY good look!

Amber Rose Gets It In in Complex Mag

Amber Rose! oh how I love thee!

She recently had a photo shoot and interview with Complex Mag! She talked about her relationship with Kanye, her career, and what I love the best, her STYLE!!!

Here's a Brief Excerpt:

Complex: Did you always have an eclectic style growing up?

Amber Rose: Yea, I always looked up to Slash from Guns N’ Roses. I had every single poster of Slash in my room. It was crazy because I grew up in an all-black neighborhood and everybody I went to school with was black. I was the only biracial looking girl in my school, and Slash was biracial too, he was just a fucking rock star. I always wanted to play the guitar. I’ve tried, but ther things came up.

Complex: What’s the status of your career?

Amber Rose: Definitely more modeling, I want to change the face of modeling. I want young girls growing up to know that they can actually eat something, and be beautiful and be a model, that they can actually have a real women’s body and do modeling. I want to get into acting. I want to pursue all avenues that I can.

Complex: Recently you’ve been thrust into the world of TMZ and Perez Hilton. How have you been dealing with the gossip blogs?

Amber Rose: This is my life,this is how my life’s been since I was a kid. I’ve always been popular, my name has always been in somebody’s mouth in high school. I don’t lose no sleep over this shit. Some of the stuff, when it’s extremely far-fetched and stupid, I just laugh. I don’t lose a minute of sleep over this.

Complex: Has your recent fame opened more doors for you?

Amber Rose: Obviously, Kanye is a super-duper megastar so he definitely gave me the fast track to the top, and I love him and appreciate him so much for that.

Complex: What’s one thing about ’Ye that really blew you away about him?

Amber Rose: Well, the fact that there can be a noise in the background, or like a windshield wiper and he will start beat-boxing or banging on the dashboard and start doing some type of beat and it sounds so fresh. I remember when he first did something like that and he just closed his eyes, and gets in the mode. I was like, “Wow.” You have to be a genius to that. He’s amazing.
